The Little Rock Foundation is an organization of parents who have children with blindness, visual impairment and other disabilities. We want to reach out to the community to give vital support, encouragement and share our experiences and concerns among parents of blind and visually impaired children.

We want to inspire society as a whole to look beyond the disability of blindness and realize that we all have disabilities. Some are more visible than others. Rocco Fiorentino, for whom The Little Rock Foundation is named, has changed the perception of those he meets that blindness imposes limitations. With the right education and resources the sky is the limit.

Children with blindness and visual impairments share the same needs as all children for nurturing, stimulation and education. Our mission is to become a resource center for parents of visually impaired and blind children. Visual impairments interrupt the typical development of the child, often requiring non-traditional methods to optimize individual learning experiences. Imagine a blind child trying to understand a cloud and the dynamics of color in a blue sky. Visualize the story Goldie Locks and the Three Bears and imagine the translation to a blind child. These are difficult examples but they have been understood by thousands who are blind, for the blind "see" with all their other senses and with their hearts. Your heart, too, will be enriched with your support of The Little Rock Foundation.

If you are a parent of a visually impaired or blind child, please call us. You are not alone. There are other families who face the same challenges as you. We can be your connection to support services, technology advancements, educational opportunities, role models, national conventions, mobility specialists, Braille equipment, and toys. Blind children, when given a chance, can play and learn with their sighted peers. An open mind, a positive attitude, lots of support and a little creativity is usually all it takes to integrate a blind child into the visual world. We want to help you bring that world to your child, touch a tree, pet a dog, smell a flower, label sounds or more simply help your child understand the complexities of life. Talk about the world around them, be their eyes.
